Metabolic research

Metabolic research studies how cells process energy and nutrients and which signalling pathways control it. Peptides in this domain are mainly ligands of the incretin, glucagon and amylin receptors, together with smaller molecules around the mitochondria and the enzyme AMPK.

In the lab they are used to study receptor binding, signal transduction via cAMP and AMPK, and glucose homeostasis in cell and tissue models. Some act on a single receptor, others are designed as dual or triple agonists.
