Lipo-C is a formulation based on lipotropic substances, typically methionine, inositol and choline (MIC), supplemented with L-carnitine and B vitamins. The exact composition varies by manufacturer.

Mechanism in research
Choline and methionine are described in the literature as involved in the formation of phosphatidylcholine, which is needed for the export of fat from the liver. L-carnitine transports long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. No dedicated scientific literature is available on the formulation as a whole.
