Dermatological research with peptides focuses on fibroblasts, keratinocytes and melanocytes in culture, and on extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen and elastin. Well-known research molecules are the copper-binding tripeptide GHK-Cu and signal peptides such as SNAP-8.

The melanocortin receptor MC1R is also studied in this domain, with analogues of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, as is the antioxidant glutathione in cell models.
