What is FOXO4-DRI?
FOXO4-DRI is a synthetic peptide in D-retro-inverso form (built from D-amino acids in reverse order), based on part of the protein FOXO4.

Mechanism
Mechanism in research
In a 2017 study (Cell), FOXO4-DRI is described as disrupting the binding between FOXO4 and p53 in senescent cells. This releases p53, and these cells selectively undergo apoptosis. The D-retro-inverso structure makes the peptide more resistant to breakdown.
